Directorate Offers Training
The information technology directorate of the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority is reported to have provided spatial monitoring and reporting (SMART) training to two national parks.
According to Ato Abebe Feleke, director of the directorate, training on the SMART was given between months of April and June.
The training was attended by heads and experts of the Nechisar and Abjeta Shalla Lakes National Parks, it was noted.
Lessons drawn from the training enables to use the information communication technology and the system to identify and know the resources of the park, to protect the park from illegal Poachers and activity, to prepare resource based and park turned work plan and reporting system as well as assist in works of supervision and ensuring good governance.
The director who indicated that the training helps to collect and organize precise, timely and comprehensive data on the resources and security of parks, pinpointed that the SMART information system is one of the latest system utilized today by world’s renowned parks for similar purposes.
