The training organized by the Ethiopian Wildlife Authority in collaboration with the African Wildlife Foundation is focused mainly on the crime scene of wild animals, human rights and witness protection.
The African Wildlife Foundation project coordinator Mr. Gebyaw Dilinga has stated that the training will be given by experts from Tanzania and Kenya for four consecutive days. The African Wildlife Foundation is working with its authority to prevent the crime of wild animals with the help of sniffing dogs.
The Director General of Ethiopian Wildlife Protection Authority Mr. Kumera Wakjira, who attended the training program and gave the opening speech, stated that the crimes committed on wild animals and their products are becoming more complicated and more complicated from time to time, and the control work assisted by barking dogs has been achieved.
Mr. Kumera Ayizew has stated that years ago there were limitations to prevent illegal trafficking of wild animals and their products at Bole International Airport, but today it is possible to control the problem and make an international airport that is not raped.
Mr. Kumera has stated that the illegal activities on wild animals are a big threat to the security of the country and a cross-border crime. The main aim of the training is to build a capacity to prevent this crime.
Finally, Mr. Kumera has started the training by thanking the African Wildlife Foundation for its support and the main partner of the official office.
In this training, the trainees (Dog handlers) are expected to get the tools to properly monitor criminals, to develop the skills to be a trustworthy witness in court, to collect and protect evidence and to contribute to a successful trial.
